Why should we take the initiative to protect children, especially those living in rural areas and hard-to-reach places where resources are scarce, where they are more likely to be vulnerable, and where education is not treated as a human right?
In Cote d'Ivoire, more than a million children and teens are not enrolled in school. Access to education is a challenge for many, for a variety of reasons, including distance, lack of proper school facilities and resources in rural areas and hard-to-reach places.
It is crucial to have access to a primary school within commuting distance in order to ensure that every child receives an education. In order to protect children's right to an education and to provide basic education to rural children, Leaders' Room works in rural areas and hard-to-reach places to reach the most vulnerable and least accessible communities.
25 percent of the population of Cote d'Ivoire depends on the sale of cocoa. Many Children in cities of Sassandra, 227 km from Abidjan and Danané (630 km from Abidjan) are victims of child labor on cocoa farms or are at heightened risk of child labor for those who are not working on the farms. However, school facilities are either underfunded or nonexistent in the rural areas of these cities. That is why Leaders’ Room wants to help children in Sassandra and Danané by building a primary school and a library for them.
School is not only about learning numbers, letters and other subjects. It plays a crucial role in the growth of the child's social and cognitive abilities. Education has numerous benefits; it strengthens communities, empowers children, and improves society as a whole.
It prepares your child for success throughout his education, and the skills he/she learns in primary school will stay with him/her forever.
We, at Leaders' Room, believe that school life should be about instilling an interest and empowerment development and opportunity as well as protection from child labor.
With the right supervision and exposure, children can have access to a wide range of opportunities and pathways, and this early exposure can spark an interest in them, preparing them for the future.
Every child should strive to achieve their full potential no matter where they live.
In order to empower them to become the individuals they aim to be, we want to give them the necessary exposure and direction.
Leaders’Room is currently raising funds to build a primary school and a library in Sassandra and Danané in Cote d'Ivoire. If you'd like to learn more, please contact us.
